MEASURING GUIDE

I'm going to walk you through how I measure my items to insure you get the best fit possible! Let's start with pants, since they are the trickiest. 

 

Step 1) Grab your best fitting pants (preferably ones with little to no stretch for the most accuracy).

Step 2) Lay your measuring tape flat along the waist as shown below. The jeans in the picture measure at 13". This is called the "Flat Measurement". In my final measurements that I list on the product description (for bottoms) I will double the flat measurement to get the total waist measurement, making the waist of these 26".

Step 3) Now lay the measuring tape flat along the hips, as shown below. This is the widest part of the jeans (typically around the bottom of the zipper). The flat measurement on these is 18" so the total hip measurement is 36".

Step 4) Now it's time to measure the rise. The rise measurement is often forgotten but it is a key measurement in making sure a pair of pants will fit you! The rise of the pants determines where the waist will sit on your torso. Measure from the horizontal crotch seam all the way up to the waist. This measurement is never doubled so it is just 11".

Step 5) Last but not least (especially if you have long legs like me) is the inseam measurement. This will help you determine if the length of the jeans will work for the look you're going for. Place the measuring tape along one of the pant legs, starting at the crotch seam and ending at the leg opening as shown below. The inseam measurement on these is right around 28.5" (it is never doubled.)

Those are the four measurements I take for all pants and shorts, but if you need any other measurements such as a thigh or leg opening measurement, reach out to me via email or Instagram and I will happily provide you with those.

Measuring tops is more self-explanatory but I will show you how I get those measurements as well. 

Step 1) Grab a shirt that fits you well (preferably the most fitted top that you wear). The reason for this is that it gives you a baseline so you know the smallest top that you can wear and then can go up from there for a looser fitting shirt. I will be using a t-shirt but it is just to show you where I make measurements. They are all taken the same, regardless of the kind of top. 
Step 2) Lay your shirt out as flat as you can. Make sure it is buttoned if you are using a button up. Place the measuring tape from the left edge of the shirt, directly under the armpit to the right edge, directly under the armpit. This is what I refer to as the chest or "pit to pit" measurement. The chest on this shirt is 19" (I never double this one).

Step 3) The second and final measurement is the length. I place the measuring tape directly under the collar from the back side of the shirt, as shown below. The back side is slightly longer than the front, so it gives the best overall representation in my opinion. If I am measuring a top or vest that is purposely longer or shorter on one side, I will take those measurements separately as the "front length" and "back length". The length of this shirt is 24.5".
